Ireland's Police Body Warns Against Pursuing Wrong Way Driver

The Pursuit Paradox: When Safety Takes a Backseat A recent crash on Ireland's M9 motorway left five teenagers dead and several others fighting for their lives, raising questions about the priorities of road safety in the country.

According to the Garda Representative Association (GRA), officers were instructed not to pursue the car as it drove the wrong direction on the motorway before the fatal collision.

The GRA's Assistant General Secretary, Tara McManus, explained that officers had attempted to interact with the vehicle on several occasions but were eventually directed to disengage due to the driver's evasive action.
